The realities are startling:
- 570,000 accidents resulting in minor to serious injuries and 2,600 traffic deaths are caused each year by cell phone distractions (Harvard University study).
- 21% of fatal car crashes involving teens between the age of 16 and 19 were the result of cell phone use (2007 AAA report)
- Texting while driving affects a driver’s reaction time as much as a 0.08 blood alcohol level (Clemson University study).
- Texting while driving causes drivers to leave their lane 10 percent more often (Clemson University study)
