    Physician Bio

Born in Wildflecken, Germany, Dr. Bozdech immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1951. After graduating from the University of Michigan, he served his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Wisconsin, where he developed a keen interest in leukemia, which was the impetus for his choice of a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he joined the faculty as a Clinical Instructor.

He returned to the University of Wisconsin Medical Center as an Assistant Professor and founded the Bone Marrow Transplantation Program, performing bone marrow transplants in patients with leukemia. After successfully performing more than one hundred transplants in six years, he accepted a position as Associate Professor at UCSF and returned to California to launch and direct the Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Program for the next four years.

In 1991 he accepted a Hematologist/Oncologist position at Redwood Regional Medical Group. Active in professional organizations, Dr. Bozdech enjoys his field because he has seen and continues to see revolutionary changes for the better in oncology for his patients, and he wants to be part of it. He and his wife, Fran, have raised two sons and a daughter who all live in California. He enjoys time with them, as well as reading, films, hiking, skiing, and traveling.
