Injury Prevention Programs

Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital’s Level II Trauma Center participates in the following Trauma Injury Prevention programs:

The G.I.F.T. (Gun Violence Information for Teens) program is a gun-violence awareness prevention program for teens designed to educate students about the legal, medical, and emotional consequences of youth gun possession and related gun violence. The program has been presented to over 4,200 students over the last three years.

The St. Joseph Health is one of many organizations that sponsors “Every 15 Minutes,” the anti-drunk driving campaign where fatal accidents are simulated before hundreds of high school students. The program was born in the early 1990’s when statistics showed a teenager was killed every 15 minutes in the United States as a result of an alcohol related car crash.
