Community Benefit

As a values based organization, St. Joseph Health has a long-standing commitment to the community it serves. We commit resources to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve, with special emphasis on the needs of the poor and underserved. St. Joseph Health in Northern California has formed county-wide Community Benefit departments, which serves the service areas of Humboldt, Napa, and Sonoma Counties. Through the development and implementation of these key programs and initiatives, Community Benefit helps generate improved mental, physical and spiritual health.

  • Mental Health and Substance Abuse
  • Health Aging
  • Oral Health
  • Children’s Health and Well-Being
  • Childbirth, Breastfeeding, and Parenting Classes and Support Groups

  • And Many More!

These Community Benefit programs and activities are carefully monitored to document and measure progress and this information is reported annually through the medical center's Community Benefit Report.

We are excited to share with you the SJH Community Partnerships Annual Report: Serving the Dear Neighbor, A Legacy of Caring. This report describes some of the many ways St. Joseph Health seeks to improve the wellbeing of our communities, not only through care for the poor and traditional charity care, but through grant initiatives from the SJH Community Partnerships Fund that support nonprofit organizations working for the common good.
