    Dr. Caskey earned his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine where he received numerous Honors Program awards during his clinical rotations. Following his internship at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of California – Davis, a well-respected center for research and clinical practice.Dr. Caskey pursued post-graduate work as a Fellow in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at the University of Iowa, where he participated in multiple research trials including the Macular Photocoagulation Study, Diabetic Retinopathy Study and the Diabetes Complications and Control Study. After completion of his Fellowship, he remained on the clinical staff at the University of Iowa as a clinical instructor. He returned to Northern California in 1989 where he joined Dr. Patrick Coonan in establishing North Bay Vitreoretinal Consultants.

    Dr. Caskey is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists. His research interests include pharmacological therapies used in choroidal neovascularization associated with age-related macular degeneration, vitreoretinal surgery instrument development and clinical patient education. He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been a consultant for Novartis, Genentech and Krames Communications. He has been selected as “One of the Best Doctors in America” by BestDoctors.com as well as “One of the Best Doctors in the Bay Area” by San Francisco Magazine.

    Dr. Caskey lives in Santa Rosa with his wife and three children. His outside interests include travel, skiing, boating and playing the hammered dulcimer.
